Charity update

Our Charity fundraising has become a year round activity!   2010  saw us able to donate £836 to the Alzheimers Society, £600 to the Haiti Appeal, and £520 to Dumfries and Cumbria Greyhound Rescue.   And the autumn Kirsty Barker ran both the Great North and Cumbrian Half Marathons raising £300 in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma research.

Spring 2011 saw us  collecting for the ‘Bring Nicola Home’ appeal - sales of dog tooth cleaning chews has generated £515 towards the family’s fund to give Nicola the opportuntiy to return home from hospital care.   Our Quiz Night, once again kindly held free of charge at the Pirelli Social Club, raised a massive £630.  This, together with the residue from previous fundraising efforts, was divided between Dogs for the Disabled, a local branch of the Cat’s Protection League, and the charity International China Concern  (http://english.chinaconcern.org).

Children in Need

Knitted Pudseys and Meercats sold briskly raising over £190 towards the annual Children in Need appeal.   A huge thank you to Linda Marchbank for knitting them - we are delighted that the Centre was able to offer these lovely toys for sale to our clients.
